Introduction
Goole & District Hospital is accessible via a
network of motorway links and is situated on the outskirts of Goole in a quiet residential area. A local bus
service runs every 30 minutes throughout the day from the hospital to the town centre where there is also a
railway station and a shopping area. Goole & District Hospital is friendly and welcoming and has won an award
for its level of cleanliness.
The Hospital has a positive philosophy of "doing things differently" which is applied
to the whole area of patient care. The emphasis is on redesigning the service to meet the needs of the patient
rather than the patient fitting into the established service.
Our aim is to work with the GPs, Primary Care Trusts and other service providers to improve
access to treatment and facilitate patient choice and adopt a partnership approach.
An intensive programme of rehabilitation commences early in the post-operative phase,
facilitated by a dedicated ward-based team of physiotherapists and occupational therapists. These are
supported by generic Advanced Health Care Assistants who are qualified at NVQ Level 3 and have undergone a
planned training programme to support therapy staff.
