Audiology

Introduction

Audiology is the science of hearing and is especially the diagnostic assessment, rehabilitation and habilitation of persons with ear, hearing and/or balance difficulties.

This Audiology service has been established to provide the highest quality of diagnostic, habilitative and rehabilitative care in the field of Audiology, throughout the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole region.

This service will:

• Aim to provide a family friendly service
• Aim to treat each patient with respect and understanding
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
• Ensure Audiology staff are trained and professionally qualified in the services they provide
• Encourage Audiology staff to keep up to date with current practices and to develop professional skills as part of continuing professional development
• Follow NHS policies of zero tolerance for any form of aggressive behaviour

The Audiology Departments at both major sites are equipped with soundproof rooms for hearing assessments. Other rooms are designated for hearing aid fittings as well as the repair and maintenance of hearing aids while space is also allocated for counselling sessions or follow up interviews.
