![]() The Breast Unit, called the Pink Rose Suite, is based at the Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby and is the principal diagnostic breast unit for this population. It was completely rebuilt in 2007 at a cost of £1.1 million with £250,000 coming from locally raised funds. The majority of triple assessments are carried out in the Suite and all surgeons have new patient diagnostic clinics in the Pink Rose Suite. The Pink Rose Suite is a dedicated and self-contained breast unit which opened in 2007. It has a large waiting area, 2 mammogram rooms, 2 ultrasound rooms, 5 large clinic rooms, 2 treatment rooms, 2 counselling rooms, a Breast Care Nurse office and a large meeting room with teleconferencing facilities. In addition the excellent secretarial support is situated in the corridor leading to the unit with a digital dictation system. All the breast operation consent forms have been pre-printed listing the complications and a copy of the text is given to patients when they have their pre-operation assessment. This ensures that not only are the patients well informed but they can easily read the form they are signing.
We provide a full range of breast surgery, including immediate or delayed LD breast reconstructions, breast reduction, mammoplasty, mastopexy, breast augmentation with implants, nipple reconstructions, and nipple tattooing. We have good links with the Hull plastic surgery service which provides further aspects of breast reconstruction including DIEP reconstructions. The breast service is highly regarded by the local population and this is reflected in the continuing very generous local donations. In the last 12 months we have purchased an Erbe Diathermy Unit for exclusive use by the breast service and a Daax Digital specimen mammogram machine to undertake specimen X-rays in theatre. All new patients are offered a clinic appointment within 2 weeks of referral. |
