IntroductionClinical Audit offers a service to all Trust staff wishing to evaluate the quality of care they offer. Clinical audit is a quality improvement process that seeks to improve patient care and outcomes through systematic review of care against explicit criteria and implementation of change and staff can access training in audit all aspects of audit methodology including:
Advice and support with undertaking individual audit projects is also available on a one on one basis. Particular emphasis is given to project planning as it is recognised that may audit projects flounder as a result of poor project design. Management Teams wising to audit clinical care are also encouraged to access the department prior to commencing audit projects to ensure that maximum potential is derived from the resources committed to evaluating services in their area. When done well, clinical audit can provide a way in which the quality of care can be reviewed objectively within a supportive and developmental environment.
