MRSAWhat is MRSA?MRSA is an abbreviation that stands for the bacteria (germ) Meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. MRSA ScreeningThis section is intended to provide information on the Trust’s MRSA screening policy / programme: Statement of ComplianceNorthern Lincolnshire & Goole Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust takes its responsibilities for the prevention and management of infection very seriously. With effect from 1 April 2009 and in line with Department of Health (DOH) recommendations, the Trust is implementing an MRSA screening programme for elective patients. The DOH recommendations also require that emergency patients are screened by no later than 2010/11. The Trust has taken the decision to include these patients in its screening programme from 1 April 2009. The Trust will work with local primary care partners in the implementation of the screening programme. Systems and processes are in place for monitoring compliance with the Trust’s MRSA screening programme and for providing assurance that these arrangements are effective.
