Functions of the Team
Education
Provide education to all health care workers on the principles and associated practice of infection
prevention and control. Provision and maintenance of an Infection Control liaison network programme. Our aim
is to have representation of at least one person from each ward or department on the group.
Policies/Procedures
The Infection Control Team ensure that the Infection Control policies, procedures and practices reflect the
most current research; thereby ensuring best practice that is cost effective.
Consultation
The Infection Control Team provide expert knowledge and guidance to individuals and the Trust on matters
relating to the prevention and control of infection.
Surveillance

Reporting of Hospital Acquired Infections.

Identify strategies for surveillance programme.
