Introduction

Here at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust we pride ourselves on delivering excellent care to all our patients. The Trauma and Orthopaedic department is no different. Not only do we have two dedicated inpatient wards in both Grimsby and Scunthorpe we also have a day ward at both sites.

Waiting times in our trauma and orthopaedic department are well below the national average.

Our hip specialists have helped us achieve survival outcomes of hip fractures within the top quarter in the UK.

We pride ourselves on having achieved extremely low rates of orthopaedic infection in our joint replacement patients, well below the national average. We achieve this by a rigorous pre-operative assessment including screening patients for resistant strains of bacteria (MRSA). We also achieve low infection rates by segregation of our joint replacement patients, auditing our standards of practice and reducing lengths of hospital stay to below the national average.

Increases in the specialist services we offer to the local region have been thanks to the continued development of our clinical staff.
