IntroductionThe physiotherapists within the Trust are based in three departments at Goole, Scunthorpe and Grimsby. We are committed to the provision of high quality, effective treatment. To make this possible physiotherapy staff engage in a continual programme of learning and encourage the sharing of expertise between departments. All physiotherapists within the Trust are registered with the Health Professions Council. Each team includes highly experienced clinical specialists who ensure appropriate treatment and the use of techniques reinforced by recent evidence or research. What is Physiotherapy?Physiotherapists use physical means, especially movement, to promote recovery and prevent ill health. They aim to reduce pain and improve levels of ability or function. A physiotherapist may assess and treat clients with physical problems due to accident, ageing, disability or disease. Physiotherapy involves a variety of different forms of treatment for example, advice about posture or a course of exercises to strengthen specific muscles. There is a variety of forms of therapy available, because physiotherapists treat clients with many different conditions. Every client is seen as an individual with their own particular needs. Following an assessment, the physiotherapist will advise you if they feel you would benefit from treatment. It is important that any programme is planned jointly between the physiotherapist and yourself, so it is most effective for you as an individual.
