IntroductionWelcome to the departments of Clinical Radiology at the Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole & District Hospital. We would like to show you our departments so that you can share in the visionary achievements making our organisation a unique and desirable place to work. Over the last five years, we have been building for the future and modernising our services. We pride ourselves in the very latest, state of the art imaging equipment, which includes Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 2 Spiral CT scanners, Digital Screening and Angiography equipment with capability to perform Coronary Angiography, portable x-ray machines, general purpose x-ray machines, mammography equipment, Computed Radiography (in one hospital) and full and functional Picture Archiving and Communications Systems (PACS ), in the other hospital. We are working rapidly towards a full PACS at the Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital. In addition, we have, several ultrasound machines including colour flow and Power Doppler Ultrasound with tissue harmonics. Nuclear Medicine is a section of the Medical Physics Department and has 2 gamma cameras with networked workstations. We have just installed a new Amersham computer system for patient administration, Radworks Teleradiology workstations, which facilitate tele-transfer of images, tele-conferencing, remote diagnosis in radiologist’s homes and a potential for linkage to any hospital worldwide. We have paid particular attention to the environment for our patients and staff members in the design of the new x-ray department at Scunthorpe General Hospital and the recently redecorated department at the Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital. We have a purpose-designed children's activity area for our younger visitors and a paediatric recovery area. Northern Lincolnshire & Goole Hospitals NHS Trust’s department of clinical radiology is a national leader in tele-radiology and PACS. The imaging super-highway is allowing us to contain imaging requirements for the people of North and North East Lincolnshire so they need not travel elsewhere. To this end, we have developed useful tele-radiology links with Manchester Royal Infirmary and Hull & East Yorkshire Hospitals. Opening TimesThe department is open for X-Ray examination appointments between 9 am and 5 pm Monday to Friday. |
