Our ward staff are usually the best people to update you on your loved ones’ care. However, they can be very busy, so we ask for only one person to contact us for updates, before sharing this information with others who may need to know.
Can’t get through to the ward?
If you can’t get through when you call for an update, you can contact the Patient Contact helpline on 03033 306666 between the hours of 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. This number is manned by non-clinical staff who will take messages and deliver them to your loved ones, help you to locate them or ask the ward to respond to you directly.
This team is not able to share clinical information, however, they are able to get messages to the clinical team looking after your relatives.
Alternatively, you can email the Patient Contact team on nlg-tr.twpatientcontacthelpline@nhs.net, which is monitored during the same hours.
Drop off or collect essential items
If your loved one needs medication or spare clothing from home, please contact the ward to arrange this.
Alternatively, you can email the Patient Contact team on nlg-tr.twpatientcontacthelpline@nhs.net during the week for advice.
Chat with a loved one
Many of our patients have bedside phones, you can find out the direct number by asking the patient or ward staff and all outgoing calls are free.
You can also request a video call with a patient. Please ask the ward staff about this or alternatively, you can email the Patient Experience team on nlg-tr.patientexperience@nhs.net.
