Our visiting arrangements have changed (on Tuesday 4 November) and the current arrangements are set out below.

Under exceptional circumstances
This includes when a patient:
- is at the end of their life (End of Life care)
- is vulnerable due to admission-related anxiety
- has communication difficulties, learning disabilities or dementia
Ward visiting, under the exceptional circumstances listed above, will be at the discretion of the nurse in charge and families can request support from the ward staff to facilitate this. The Patient Experience team can also help you keep in touch with someone in hospital, please email email@example.com for support or check the Coronavirus FAQs page for more information.
Due to reduced visiting we are experiencing high numbers of calls to the wards. We ask that families support staff by appointing one family member to contact the ward and then share the information with others.
If you are a birth partner
Birth partners are welcome to visit from when the woman is in established labour, during the birth and up to 6 hours after the birth. For more information, please speak to your midwife directly.
During the antenatal and postnatal period
Antenatal and postnatal visiting is welcomed between 12pm and 2pm, 3pm and 5pm and 6pm and 8pm when an appointment is made via the midwife on the day. This change has been necessary to ensure safety and social distancing in the pre and post-natal areas. Contact details of birth partners will also be taken in case of the need to track and trace.
Partners are also welcome at the 20 week (anomaly) scan.
All other visiting, including the visiting pilot that was underway, has been stopped until further notice.
Before being allowed to visit a risk assessment will be carried out and visiting will not be permitted in the following circumstances:
- Anybody who has had a positive COVID-19 swab in the last two weeks
- Anyone who is isolating as a contact of someone who is COVID-19 positive
- Anyone who has been contacted by Test and Trace to say they are a contact of a COVID-19 positive patient
- Anyone with symptoms of COVID-19
- Anyone who is shielding due to anticipated surgery
- If any local or national lockdown restrictions are in place that do not support patient visiting.
