The times of the weekly audiology repair drop-in clinics held at Grimsby hospital are changing in the new year following feedback from patients.
Staff in the clinic asked for people’s opinions between January and June 2016 on how they could improve access for hearing aid servicing and repairs.
Gavin Cogley, audiology service manager, said: “We wanted to hear from our patients how we could improve access to the open repair drop-in clinics for people who have an NHS hearing aid.”
Clinics are held every Tuesday between 1pm to 4pm and Thursday between 9am and noon.
In addition the team are also creating extra booked appointment slots for people to have their hearing aid repaired.
Gavin said: “We recommend that people have their hearing aids serviced every six months, so we see people in the drop-in clinics for that, as well as repairs for faulty ones.”
Patients who currently have an NHS hearing aid can pop along to the Tuesday or Thursday clinics without having to make an appointment. There is a ticket machine which staff put out 30 minutes before the clinic starts, with patients taking a ticket and waiting in turn to be seen.
The clinics are held in the audiology department which is located next to the Lloyds pharmacy in the hospital. To book an appointment people should ring (01472) 875201.
