Two therapy assistants from Goole hospital have been nominated for local apprenticeship awards.Catherine Stafford and Leanne Cook, who both work at the Neuro Rehabilitation Centre at Goole hospital, have been nominated for the Apprenticeship Awards 2020 at North Lindsey College.
Leanne, nominated for Higher Apprentice of the Year is studying a higher level apprenticeship in Professional Practice and Health and Social Care. She said: “It was a surprise to find out I had been nominated. I feel quite honoured.
“I started my foundation degree in May 2018 and I study one day a week at the college. I’ve been working for this Trust for two years but I have been a therapy assistant since 2003.”
The Trust has more than 300 apprentices and offers 37 different programmes and levels including in health, pharmacy, business, estates, accountancy, digital marketing, public relations, IT, management and HR from Entry Level 2 up to Level 7 MBA.
Catherine, studying an apprenticeship focusing on health and social care, has been nominated for Health and Social Care Apprentice of the Year and Higher Apprentice of the Year. She said: “I was chuffed to bits when I found out I’d been nominated. I started my degree just over a year ago and found it quite daunting at the beginning but I’ve settled in now. It’s been great so far and it’s much better than I expected. Being nominated for these awards has really boosted my confidence.”
Rachel Maguire, head of people development, said: “I am delighted to see that Leanne and Catherine have been nominated for these awards. They have worked extremely hard and it will be great if they win.
“We are very proud of our apprenticeship programmes and their success proves that our programmes are making a positive difference to our staff and patients.”
The nominations come ahead of National Apprenticeship Week which will take place from Monday February 3 to Friday February 7.
The awards will be held during National Apprenticeship Week at North Lindsey College on Tuesday 4 February.
