Hospitals under pressure – help us to help you

Our hospitals are operating under extreme pressures due to very high attendances at our emergency departments, increasing numbers of COVID-19 positive inpatients and a high demand for beds. As a result, those who do not require urgent, emergency treatment may have a long wait to be seen.

We are working with our health and social care partners to do everything we can to ease the pressure, but we need your help too.

You can help us by only attending our emergency centres (A&Es) if absolutely necessary. Please call 111, or use their online service, first to see if you can be cared for elsewhere – many minor ailments can be dealt with at a pharmacy or your GP.

Our staff are working tirelessly under very difficult circumstances to ensure everyone is seen and are prioritising those most in need. We apologise to anyone who experiences a longer wait than usual.
