Improved service for patients requiring a wig

The way we provide our postiche (wig) service is changing for the better.

Currently patients who require a wig, following chemotherapy or due to a condition that causes hair loss, are seen in a clinic within our hospitals. From today patients referred to the service will instead be invited to a local salon to have an enhanced experience, with more choice and without the stress of attending a clinical setting.

There’s no change to the referral process but instead of being seen at the hospital, patients will be provided with a voucher and they can choose which of the three salons we’ve partnered with to attend.

Anne Bontoft, Cross Professional Clinical Development Practitioner, said: “This will make such a difference to our patients as they’ll be seen in a much more relaxed environment and importantly in a non-medical setting.”
