Trust aiming high for wellbeing

NLaG is going for gold to improve the wellbeing of staff in its three hospitals and community services.

That is the message from the Trust’s director of people & organisational effectiveness, Jayne Adamson.

Staff from NLaG were presented with the ‘Healthy Workplaces’ silver level award, by North Lincolnshire Council, for commitment to campaigns and initiatives to help improve the health of staff.

Jayne said: “We are proud to have achieved the silver award, following on from bronze last year. The aim has to be gold next year!

“I am extremely proud of all the hard work and support from everyone.

“The scheme is an excellent way to improve the wellbeing of staff and can ultimately improve productivity, reduce turnover of staff and reduce sickness absence rates. Improving the health of our staff can only have a positive impact on our patients.”

Many of the 6,500 members of staff have been encouraged by health champions to participate in physical activities such as walking challenges and received guidance on diet and healthy eating. There has also been an emphasis on reducing alcohol consumption and stopping smoking.

Making staff aware of health campaigns and educating them on how small steps towards a healthier lifestyle can positively influence families and patients the Trust treat on a daily basis also forms part of the scheme.
