People can now apply to become a hospital governor with Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust.
The Trust, which runs hospitals in Scunthorpe, Grimsby and Goole and community services, is looking for prospective governors ahead of its forthcoming elections. Three seats are available: two in North East Lincolnshire and one in North Lincolnshire.
The Council of Governors represents the interests of local communities, partners and staff in the development of the Trust and includes both elected and appointed representatives.
Governors are the link between members and directors; they are responsible for conveying information from the Trust Board to members about affordability, service plans and health improvement initiatives.
Alison Hurley, membership manager and assistant trust secretary, said: “If you’d like to be involved in influencing decisions about local services and helping to hold the Trust board to account then now is your chance. Book on to one of our virtual roadshows to find out more about the role.”
The role is unpaid and voluntary but travel expenses will be paid.
Virtual roadshows are being held to provide people with more information about the role. These will take place as follows:
• Monday 3 August – 9.30am to 11am via GoTo meeting (link available on request)
• Wednesday 12th August – 5.30pm to 7pm via GoTo meeting (link available on request)
People need to book on to the sessions in advance by contacting the Foundation Trust office at email@example.com or on (03033) 302852.
The roadshows start promptly at the times given and will be an opportunity to meet a Non-Executive Director, the Lead Governor and the Membership Manager. Anyone unable to attend the sessions can arrange a meeting via the membership office.
Only people registered as a Trust member can become a governor. Membership is free and allows you to keep up-to-date with hospital news. To find out more and join visit www.nlg.nhs.uk/about/membership/join/
Nominations to step forward as a governor opened on Tuesday 28 July 2020 and will close at 5pm on Tuesday 25 August 2020. The elections will take place during October.
