Our Council of Governors represent the interests of local communities, partners and staff in the development of our organisation.

Jeremy Baskett

Public Governor - East and West Lindsey

Jeremy has many years of both clinical and managerial NHS experience in both the hospital and community setting providing him with experience of managing and understanding NHS and social care finances. Jeremy has a strong desire to ensure closer working between social and health care organisations to protect local services, and is passionate about public involvement in decision making for their local NHS.

Diana Barnes

Public Governor - North East Lincolnshire

Diana has previous experience of working in the NHS in the acute setting and primary care and has an ophthalmic technician certificate and a certificate in nuclear medicine.  This provides Diana with an understanding of different aspects of care and awareness of where problems can occur.  Diana is a member of ACCORD which provides greater understanding of funding and its allocation.  Diana also volunteers at her local NHS surgery and also works with the volunteer service to contact lonely people.

Mike Bateson

Public Governor - North East Lincolnshire

Mike is a lifelong resident of Cleethorpes and a former member of staff. After he retired from the NHS Mike continued to work with local voluntary organisations to influence and support the delivery of health and community care within NE Lincolnshire. He is a Trustee of Friendship at Home, a member of Accord and a past board member of Healthwatch NEL.

Karen Green

Public Governor - North East Lincolnshire

Karen is former nurse and employee of the Trust with nearly thirty years experience, having worked clinically in numerous areas and also in managerial roles across the three hospital sites including some community settings. Karen has been on numerous committees and sub committees for a number of years and believes this has helped develop a wide range of experience which will allows a positive contribution to the strategic direction of the Trust. Karen has a good understanding of the clinical governance agenda, financial management, project management and capital developments which will enable an active contribution to the future development of the Trust. As a regular user of the local hospital services Karen is fully committed to working with the Trust Board towards developing patient centred care with an emphasis on strong links between health and social care.

Ian Reekie

Lead Governor and Public Governor - North East Lincolnshire

Ian became involved in NHS governance following his retirement as North Lincolnshire Council’s Director of Leisure. He first served as a non-executive director with North Lincolnshire PCT then as a lay member on the governing body of North Lincolnshire CCG.  Ian moved to Cleethorpes from Barton-upon-Humber in 2012 and has been a North East Lincolnshire public governor since 2018.  He was elected as NLaG’s Lead Governor in 2020.

Liz Stones

Public Governor - North East Lincolnshire

Liz has 43 years’ experience working as a nurse in the NHS before her retirement which provided Liz with considerable working knowledge of managerial and director roles within the NHS, and knowledge of budgetary management, service delivery, managing change, problem solving, clinical governance and meeting local and government targets.

Kevin Allen

Public Governor - North Lincolnshire

Kevin trained as an Aircraft Engineer in the army, serving in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in the UK, Germany, Cyprus and Northern Ireland.  Upon leaving the army Kevin joined Her Majesty’s Prison & Youth Offender Institution in Doncaster as the Fire and Safety officer, later becoming the Compliance Officer, responsible for all aspects on Health and Safety, Fire Safety, Quality and Environmental Management.  Kevin is actively involved in the community as a football referee and run leader at Scunthorpe & District Athletic Club.

David Cuckson

David started out his career working as a professional quantity surveyor at Chesterfield and Worksop Borough Councils, later becoming the managing director of a medium sized building contractor in Worksop.  David was also a licensee for Esso, a Scunthorpe Magistrate, and a volunteer for victim support.  His former role as Governor at Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospital Trust provided experience in various committees.

Staff Governor

Tim is the Head of General Radiology at Diana, Princess of Wales and has a passion for providing the best, safest and most up to date patient healthcare.  His vast knowledge and experience of working in the NHS and attending a number of committees enable him to relate strategic issues to staff and other Governors.  Tim is Chair of the Trusts Medical Exposures Committee which oversees all Trusts legal radiation issues and is also a voluntary Technical Assessor for the United Kingdom Accreditation Service.

Anthonia Nwafor

Staff Governor

Anthonia Nwafor joined the Trust as an International recruit from Nigeria in February 2021 as a Pre-registration Nurse, qualifying as a Registered General Nurse in the UK in April 2021.  Anthonia holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Ebonyi state University, Abakaliki, in Nigeria.  Anthonia loves providing exemplary care to patients and has a keen interest in supporting new staff especially the International recruits.

Eddie McCabe

Stakeholder Governor - North East Lincolnshire Place

Eddie McCabe has worked for the NHS in Northern Lincolnshire since 1993, initially in finance with Scunthorpe Community Trust and currently as Assistant Director for Contracts and Performance in North East Lincolnshire.

He has significant experience of working across all aspects of health and adult social care in North East Lincolnshire and within the ICB. As he lives and works in the area he has a keen interest professionally and personally in ensuring Health services are delivering the best they can for patients, recognising the challenges facing the whole system locally.

Emma Mundey

Stakeholder Governor - North Lincolnshire Place

I am currently the Head of Contracts for the Humber & North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board and have been working in the commissioning arm of the NHS for over 20 years. My experience spans both contract management and business intelligence and analytics, and I collaborate closely with provider’s and partner organisations across the patch.

Professionally, my ambition is to create strong trusted relationships between all health and social care stakeholders in North Lincolnshire, ultimately driving the best outcomes for patients. My experience and background mean that I am well placed to contribute effectively to the governance of the Trust, and I hope to help wherever I can.  Personally, I’m a local resident of North Lincolnshire, a busy mum of three boys, and a Rugby fanatic including being a Scunthorpe Rugby Union Club Mini Junior committee member.
