Our catering teams have the recipe for success when it comes to cooking up delicious, nutritious meals for our patients.
And we’re proud to say that, yet again, they have been rewarded with a 5* rating following a recent Food Safety Inspection from North East Lincolnshire Council.
Deputy Catering Manager, Nicola Dieudonne, said the rating was a reflection on the hard work and dedication of the team.
She said: “The whole team really cares about making sure our patients get the nutrition they need to help them get better.
“They also take a lot of pride in making sure our kitchens are clean and tidy and that everyone adheres to all the relevant hygiene guidelines and regulations.
“Our Estates teams also play a vital role in helping us to maintain these high standards, maintaining and repairing our equipment and the kitchen area.”
Together, the 40 strong team serve up 585 meals every single day, all of which are prepared and cooked on site.
They also cater to a wide range of dietary requirements, taking into account intolerances, offering vegetarian and vegan options, and ensuring any medical needs are met.
As you can imagine, this means that the menu is pretty varied – but there will always be some firm favourites and the most popular dishes are the roast chicken, chicken curry, lasagne and a good old fashioned apple crumble.
Nicola added: “Good nutrition is vital for patients when they are recovering from surgery or illness, so the Catering team is an integral part of providing excellent patient care.
“I’m really proud of the whole team and the way they work together to deliver constant high standards, seven days a week. They’re a real asset to NHS Humber Health Partnership and the NHS.”
