Hull Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) is celebrating its first anniversary this month, marking a successful first year of providing fast, convenient access to diagnostic tests for patients across Hull and the East Riding.
Since opening its doors in September 2025, the centre has welcomed more than 73,500 patients for a range of diagnostic tests and investigations, helping people receive quicker diagnoses and access the care they need closer to home.
Located in Hull city centre on Albion Street, the purpose-built facility was designed to bring diagnostic services out of busy hospital settings and into the heart of the community, making appointments easier to access for patients while increasing diagnostic capacity across the region.
Leah Stabler, CDC General Manager with NHS Humber Health Partnership, says:
“The Hull & ER CDC has received excellent feedback from patients in terms of access to appointments, the environment and the speed of the appointment on the day.
“Patients have found the CDC easy to access due to the location and staff enjoy the relaxed environment it provides not only for them working within the building for the patients also.
“We continue to review services for patients that would benefit being in a community setting and liaising with GP and external partners to look at pathways for patients.”
Over the last 12 months, the Hull CDC has delivered:
- 50,260 imaging appointments
- 12,859 MRI scans
- 21,780 CT scans
- 7,134 ultrasound examinations
- 8,487 X-rays
- 17,428 pathology and phlebotomy appointments
- More than 2,500 physiological sciences investigations
These services play a vital role in diagnosing a wide range of conditions, including cancer, heart disease and respiratory illnesses, helping patients begin treatment sooner and improving health outcomes. Many patients attending the centre are able to have multiple diagnostic tests completed during the same visit, creating a more streamlined experience and reducing the need for several appointments across different locations.
The success of the Hull CDC has been made possible by the dedication of colleagues across a wide range of services, including radiology, pathology, respiratory medicine, cardiology, administration, nursing and support teams. Together, they have helped thousands of patients receive timely investigations in a setting specifically designed around patient convenience and experience.
As the Hull Community Diagnostic Centre celebrates its first birthday on 13 September, colleagues are reflecting on a year of achievement and looking ahead to further improving access to diagnostic services, helping even more patients receive the right test, in the right place, at the right time.
