The Mayor of North East Lincolnshire will be putting his best foot forward to drum up money for a breast unit at Grimsby hospital.
The Pink Rose Suite cares for people who need to use its breast imaging and diagnostic service.
Councillor Ian Lindley, who works in Grimsby Theatres as an Operating Department Practitioner, was elected as Mayor last year and chose The Pink Rose Suite as one of his charities to raise money for, through The Health Tree Foundation.
He’ll be taking part in a 24-hour dance-a-thon from 9am on Thursday 21 March to 9am on Friday 22 March at Grimsby Town Hall.
Ian said: “I’m really looking forward to getting my dancing shoes on! I’ll be able to take a ten-minute comfort break every hour but other than that, it’ll be non-stop dancing.
“I came up with the idea because I wanted to do something different. Lots of people do skydives and sponsored runs, so I was thinking outside the box. Please come down and support me on the day, and join in if you wish.
“I’ve been getting ready for the challenge by regularly running and I have a few new dance moves to try out. It’ll be good fun but I think the period during the night will be tough!
“The staff on The Pink Rose Suite are fantastic and I see first-hand the terrific care patients get. I’ve set a target of £2,000 but I’m hoping to raise as much as possible.”
The Pink Rose Suite is close to his heart as his wife and Mayoress, Helen Lindley, works on there as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. The couple also have the unit to thank for their introduction, as they met at a social event to raise money for it.
You can donate to the dance-a-thon on JustGiving. If you’re interested in attending, please email [email protected].
Mr Lindley will also be raising money for his other chosen charity – Sunflowers Children’s Action Group.
