Birth partners in Grimsby and Scunthorpe will now have a better hospital experience after midwives secured more than £45,000 funding for special recliner chairs.
Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals FT Trust, part of Humber Health Partnership, has purchased 58 recliner chairs for its maternity units at Scunthorpe General Hospital and Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby after receiving funding from NHS England.
Maternity Matron Vicki Booth said the slimline, wipeable chairs would be placed in every delivery room, single room and double room at Grimsby and the Central Delivery Suite and by patients’ bedsides on Ward 26 at Scunthorpe.
She said: “We’ve chosen chairs that fit in well within a clinical environment while providing more comfort to birth partners who wish to stay in hospital during labour and once the baby’s been born.”
