Children on the Disney Ward at Scunthorpe hospital will receive a bumper load of goodies, thanks to the Scunny Bikers’ annual festive run.
Motorbikes of all shapes and sizes will be roaring on to the hospital site on Sunday 8 December to donate toys for the kids.
A convoy of motorcyclists will meet at The Old Farmhouse pub and restaurant on Doncaster Road at 11am and leave at 12.30pm, travelling to Gunness and Burringham before arriving at the Church Lane entrance of the hospital at around 1pm.
Gavin Stubbs, event organiser, said: “We’re expecting around 100 bikers on the day. I want to say a big thank you to the local community and the supermarkets for all the donations.
“Our members absolutely love putting a smile on the children’s faces. It’s a wonderful way to kick-start our Christmas by donating to our local hospital.”
Trolleys have been up in Asda, Tesco and Morrisons in Scunthorpe for members of the public to donate items. There’s also a collection point at Glenny’s Bar in Scunthorpe.
Vikki McAlpline, Disney’s Ward Manager, said: “We are truly grateful to Scunny Bikers for organising their Christmas toy run. The children’s faces light up when they see all of the fantastic gifts.
“It’s tough for children in hospital at any time of the year but it’s particularly hard at Christmas. This helps take their mind off what they’re going through.”
