It was a glittering night of celebration and achievement for our staff at Hull York Medical School’s annual Teaching Excellence Awards.
The event recognises the outstanding contribution of colleagues across the region in supporting their students. The nominees and winners were all submitted and chosen by students, acknowledging those who had inspired, supported, and had a positive impact on students’ lives and education.
There were several wins on the night for our staff including:
Nursing and Allied Health Professions award
Emma Harrison and Catherine Thomas walked away with an award. Their students said:
“Playing a massive part in making students on placement feel welcome, and part of the healthcare team.”
“Offering the best possible learning opportunities by recommending patients for us to speak to and testing us on what we learned.”
Phase II and III Tutor of Excellence award
Dr Kaushik Bhattacharya picked up this award. Comments from students included:
“A fantastic teacher, able to explain difficult concepts in simple language.”
“His passion and patience when teaching stands out.”
“He provides excellent resources to study from.”
Team Excellence award
Grimsby Student Liaison Office team. Comments included:
“A cohesive team, dedicated to student experience.”
“Extremely knowledgeable.”
“Quick to reply.”
And “Highly responsive to student feedback.”
