The Trust has received formal confirmation that Junior Doctors in England will take strike action from 7am on Friday 11 August to 6:59am on Tuesday 15 August June 2023. This will be followed by a 48 hour period of strike action by Consultants from 7am on Thursday 24 August to 6.59am on Saturday 26 August, in the run up to the bank holiday weekend.
We are working hard to ensure disruption to patients is as minimal as possible whilst prioritising emergency care. Unfortunately, that will mean some routine appointments or procedures will be postponed.
Patients who have an appointment or procedure affected by the strike action will be contacted directly. If you do not hear from the hospital, please attend as planned.
Regardless of any strike action taking place, it is really important that patients who need urgent medical care continue to come forward as normal, especially in emergency and life-threatening cases – when someone is seriously ill or injured, or their life is at risk. If you need medical help or advice, or you are unsure about whether you should go to hospital, go to NHS 111 online unless it is a life-threatening emergency when you should still call 999.
