The Amethyst unit is a £4.4 million haematology, oncology and rheumatology unit at the Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital which opened in 2012 and was named by patients and staff.
The unit is home to our:
- Haematology/oncology ward (Amethyst ward) and outpatient department
- Amethyst day case unit for chemotherapy treatments
- Rheumatology Ward (D1 Hazel) and rheumatology day case
- Rheumatology outpatients department.
The Amethyst unit provides a very fitting environment to care for our patients with the quality, privacy and dignity they deserve. Two dedicated garden areas within the unit enable patients to sit in a relaxing environment while enjoying some fresh air and a dedicated relatives room is a great benefit meaning people can stay overnight and have their own en-suite facility.
