New Community Diagnostic Centres (CDCs) have been built across the area served by NHS Humber Health Partnership.
Both the £19.4 million centre in Scunthorpe and the £10 million build in Grimsby are now welcoming patients, while the £18 million Hull and East Riding centre in Hull city centre is due to open this summer. In addition to this, further diagnostic appointments are also being offered at the East Riding Community Hospital in Beverley.
All the new centres have been designed with input from our clinical teams – both from our hospitals and community health providers – to ensure we create the right space to meet your needs, with sufficient capacity to house multiple diagnostic services.
What are Community Diagnostic Centres?
CDCs are a one-stop-shop for health checks, scans, and tests, providing you with access to a range of diagnostic tests closer to home, reducing the need to come into hospital and reducing waiting times.
Staffed by expert clinicians, each will give us the ability to carry out up to 150,000 additional diagnostic tests every year, helping us to detect serious conditions such as cancer, heart disease, and respiratory conditions.
If your GP believes you need a diagnostic test, they will be able to refer you and we will be in touch to arrange a mutually convenient appointment. If you require multiple tests, you may be able to book to have them all done on the same day.
We don’t just serve our communities – we’re part of them too and we want to see our high streets busy and thriving once more. That’s why we have purposefully chosen to build these centres in our town centres, encouraging more people to visit, increasing footfall and benefitting local businesses.
By moving these services away from our hospital sites, we will also improve services there too. Our hospital clinicians will have more time to deal with patients requiring acute care and, as an added bonus, there will be less demand for parking too.
If you are unable to stand independently or get on and off examination couches without the use of a hoist, we will continue to treat you at our main sites for your safety and comfort.
