We’re looking for local people who are passionate about health services to step forward to be a Governor.
Do you want to help improve and develop local hospital and community services? Our Governors represent their local constituencies, acting as a link between patients, the public and our Board of Directors.
Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust provides acute hospital and community services to a population of more than 450,000 people across a wide geographical area which includes North and North East Lincolnshire, East Riding of Yorkshire and West and East Lindsey.
Our Governors have various duties they perform, and an important part of the role is that they listen and represent the communities and staff they serve. If you’d like to help us to learn, develop and continue to grow as a Trust, then this could be for you.
We’re looking for people to represent their local constituency. We have seven public Governor seats available for the constituencies as below:
- East and West Lindsey – 2 seats available
- North East Lincolnshire – 3 seats available
- North Lincolnshire – 1 seat available
- Goole and Howdenshire – 1 seat available
A series of Election Roadshows are taking place throughout September on our hospital sites and via Microsoft Teams. These events will provide prospective Governors with an opportunity to meet with a Non-Executive Director, which could be the Trust Chair or Vice Chair, along with current Governors. They are informal events designed to help you decide if it’s the role for you. We’ll be sharing information including the Trust’s background and challenges, the role of the Governors and their statutory duties, plus the next steps in the election process. This is also the perfect opportunity to ask any questions you may have. They will take place on:
- 2 September, 5pm to 6pm at Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby
- 3 September, 2pm to 3pm via Microsoft Teams
- 4 September, 6pm to 7pm via Microsoft Teams
- 9 September, 5pm to 6pm at Goole and District Hospital
- 17 September, 5pm to 6pm at Scunthorpe General Hospital
*These sessions will only go ahead if places are reserved in advance.
To book a place at a Roadshow, please email the Foundation Trust Office at [email protected] or call 03033 302852.
Alison Hurley, Deputy Director of Assurance, said: “Your local hospital needs you, don’t just have your say on health services, get involved to represent your local community and help us develop and improve local hospital and community services.
“With the NHS 10 year plan there are many changes afoot so there’s never been a better time to join us and help make a difference to local and regional health services. As a Foundation Trust, Members and Governors are at the heart of what we do and how we do it. If you would like to put yourself forward or know someone who you think would make a good governor, then please get in touch to with us.”
Our election will open for nominations on Monday 1 September and will remain open until Monday 29 September. A nomination form to stand for election to these positions is available from Monday 1 September.
