Parents on Scunthorpe’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) are benefiting from beauty treatments, thanks to a local volunteer.
Larysa Korolova is studying beauty therapy at North Lindsey College in the town, and volunteers for free on the Unit. It’s a chance for parents to be able to enjoy some relaxation at what is often a very stressful and worrying time.
Larysa, who lives in Winterton, said: “I really enjoy coming in and providing these treatments. I love to help people, and it’s nice being able to provide them some relief.”

Rita Akther was one of the parents receiving a hand massage on the day we visited the Unit. She said: “It was really nice and relaxing, and it’s great you’re able to be near your baby whilst you receive a treatment.”
Demi Fawcett was another parent getting a hand massage. She said: “I think it’s amazing and it provides comfort when in the Unit.”

Kerry Grimbleby, Senior Staff Nurse on NICU, said: “I’d like to say a big thank you to Larysa. She comes in most weeks and gives her time for free. The parents on the Unit really appreciate it.”
